At Chat Chow TV we are firm believers that weekends are made for Bloody Marys. We can’t think of a drink we crave more to go with our brunch meal our catching up with friends after a long night out.
Imagine our delight when Stoli approached us to take part in their #SearchForMary campaign when it came to South Florida. Their request was simple, find the best Bloody Mary in the area and report back.
Go on a search for the best Bloody Mary in South Florida? We couldn’t sign up fast enough.
Teaming up with our knowledgable Stoli representative @BarbyMarino, we determined a list of our top five ‘Must Try’ Bloody Mary spots in the area. Then we got down to the hard work — taste testing.
(We know, we know, it’s tough job but someone has to do it.)
The criteria was this: we were looking for a drink that packed a spicy punch, had unique garnishes, and an appropriate vodka-to-Bloody Mary mix ratio.
Our first two stops were Village Pub and Scandals in Wilton Manners. Both served up a mean Bloody with lots of spice, just like we like them.
Our next destination was Oceans 234, where we sipped on a few different variations garnished with blue cheese, jumbo shrimp and bacon, while taking in some great ocean views.
Finally we headed to Coconut Grove to two of our brunch mainstays, Greenstreet and Lulu. Greenstreet’s Bloody was tasty, but Lulus blew away the competition with its spicy, bacon Bloody Mary.
Lulu’s Bloody Mary uses a delicious house-made mix seasoned with onion and mustard powder, Asian five spice, Worcestershire sauce, jalapeño and a “little bit of love,” according to our very knowledgeable bartender. It’s then garnished with celery, olives, piquillo peppers, and lots of bacon. We’re talking bacon in the drink, a bacon and celery salt rim along with a bacon infused vodka.
